1. Color is your best tool to customize your look. There really are no rules; the goal here is to select colors that you find pleasing, that’s all that matters! Just one amazing color selection can dramatically affect your space. If you feel adventurous, select 2 or 3 great colors and get started!

2. To make your windows look taller, hang your window treatments from the ceiling. Bed Bath and Beyond and Pier One Imports sell inexpensive ready made curtains in extra long lengths.

3. Purchase narrow shelves. These amazing shallow wall shelves give major impact to your collections of small items. Grouping like items as opposed to sprinkling them around your apartment creates more visual impact.

4. Don’t be afraid of large accessories. While major pieces of furniture need to fit your space and allow room to maneuver, large accessories provide your design scheme serious personality. Large artwork can be expensive, so if you don’t already posess any think about creating a montage of items. Clocks, photos and metal art work can all co-exist in the same grouping providing there is one unifying element (such as frames that are all the same color). Experiment! You’ll be amazed at what you can achieve.
